Jewelstone, or jewel stone, is a polymer modified cement overlay for concrete.  It is mixed on-site and applied with concrete trowels.  Designed with harsh Canadian winters, freeze thaw cycles  in mind.  One product which combines unmatched long term durability and the ability turns plain concrete into a  beautiful faux stone finish.

As per manufacturer spec., all necessary surface prep., 2 coats of jewelstone material with the design/colour combination of your choosing would be applied on the typical job. Work time is 3 days as the base coat of jewel stone needs to fully cure before the second coat is applied. Standard work time for a typical job such as a front porch and steps is 3 days. Short cuts on the time frame which affect proper curing will have a detrimental impact on long term durability. When applied properly, following the manufacturers installation instructions,  resurfacing with jewel stone can be very economical compared to complete removal/replacement of the concrete.

 Every job, regardless of size, is a minimum of 3 days. Day 1 is surface prep./base coat application. Day 2 is the top/design coat. Final day is application of highlight colours/sealer. This is the only way to ensure long term durability of the product. Cutting the cure time short or applying 1 coat instead of 2 will impact long term durability.
